Thursday night Lavo NYC will host the face of Dirty Dutch Mr. DJ Chuckie. Unfortunately, I have a very important 10am doctor's appointment in New Jersey which cannot be rescheduled, so it does not look too promising for me to get to the city for this show. However, for anyone who has the opportunity, I strongly suggest you go and bring all your friends. Chuckie is the perfect blend of seriously ill beats and crowd pleasures which everyone knows - on top of that the venue is awesome and provides much more of a semi-fancy night out which Pacha and Webster Hall certainly do not. Additionally Cielo will play home to Mark Knight's "Toolroom Knights 3.0" party.
Friday, Glo out on Long Island will actually be playing host to Avicii. Odd for me to say BUT I may actually venture out there to check it out. Additionally on Friday night, New Jersey's Wellmont theatre will host Jersey Shore's DJ Pauly D. Before everyone attacks that entire concept, I'm actually intrigued to see what the guy could do. He wouldn't have gotten this far is he was terrible. I think it's worth like $25 and 2 hours of my time. But being it's absolutely frigid out who knows if I'll even leave the city unless it's in a car not via public transportation. NYC residents Sleep and Boo will also be at Cielo Friday, and Saturday Pacha will host Robbie Rivera on his "Rock the Disco" tour.
NEXT Thursday (Jan 20th) the ever mysterious Provocatuer will host DirtySouth.
The following Friday (Jan 28th) Lavo NY, who has really kicked it up for 2011 will host Mixmash's Max Vangeli! So for those of you who missed Vangeli at Pacha last month, he'll be back in just two weeks!
In the future we have Wolfgang Gartner, Bart B More and Dada Life, Paul van Dyk, and Cosmic Gate (half of which is Nic Chagall).
AND STILL NO NEWS ON SANKEY'S!! One article by Rhythmism which was actually published a while back, is one of the more informative in terms of details. I have copied and pasted it below - Pacha, beware, they're invading your territory, are comparable in size, and even stole one of the old Sound Factory residents (for those of you who didn't know, the space where Pacha NYC currently is was the legendary Sound Factory).
From Manchester To Manhattan - Sankeys Announce Sankeys New York 2011
Confirming speculation and months of club land whispers; Sankeys can proudly announce the unique transatlantic creation of Sankeys New York.
As anyone that has visited Sankeys in Manchester will know, New York’s club scene has been at the forefront of the global inspiration that created the world’s number one club, and captured the essence of legendary old school basement nightclubs like Twilo, Sound Factory and Vinyl from the “city that never sleeps”.
Sankeys - the UK clubbing institution which regularly showcases the worlds biggest DJ’s alongside homegrown talent like Greg Vickers, Ellesse and OD Muzique, is still currently on top of the world after winning this year’s biggest ever worldwide poll held by industry leading magazine, DJ Mag. Sankeys plan to make their mark on New York from the start of 2011.
Across 16,000sq ft in a brand new space situated in a former Garage in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen area on West 50th Street, Sankeys New York will have a capacity of 1100 people, and follow the same template that has organically developed into the success story Sankeys can now proudly tell. One of Sankeys New York’s resident’s will be the established, greatly respected DJ/Producer and former Sound Factory resident DJ A-LUV.
Sankeys don’t do things by half so like its Mancunian older brother, Sankeys New York will continually push technological boundaries boasting an impressive Soundsystem the world has never seen before created by ADVANCED AUDIO TECHNOLOGY and production techniques such as hydraulic LED video lighting never before used within a nightclub environment. The New York club will be continuing Sankeys rich and diverse music policy, delivering cutting edge lineups of European and stateside talent from across the House, Techno and Electronic scene.
Owner David Vincent has now revealed the exciting New York venture as well as a previously announced vision to open new venues covering America, South America, Asia and throughout Europe in the future.
“Since announcing we had a vision to open other clubs around the world we have been inundated with offers, however, New York was always going to be the first location for Sankeys home from home. Out of all the cities that have made Sankeys what it is, New York has, without a doubt, had the biggest influence on our music, design and technology (such as our Phazon Soundsystem). We built Sankeys in Manchester with all the great New York DJ’s’ in mind, and most importantly, to make sure that they always feel welcome. Good lessons were learnt at great NYC parties such as Be Yourself at Vinyl from the greatest entertainer of them all, Danny Tenaglia.
Sankeys has been organically built around the great traditions of New York... this is now our way of giving New York back what it gave Sankeys, with my own futuristic twisted twist of course…” David Vincent
To celebrate the New York announcement, this Saturday, July 31 Sankeys and New York collide for “I Love NY”. The Martinez Brothers start their Manchester residency and treat the Sankeys crowd to another magical 4 hour set. The energetic brothers from the Bronx will be spinning alongside Sankeys NYC resident A-LUV and a rare showcase from NY based record label, Wolf+Lamb featuring Soul Clap and Zev.
