A look ahead, and UMF PHASE I Line-Up

Obviously the shows for which I'm most excited about in the upcoming weeks are Steve Angello at Roseland Ballroom on NYE (might try and stay for Victor Calderone immediately after) and then the following week Pacha continues its ridiculously good booking line-up with AFROJACK and LAIDBACK LUKE on back to back nights (1/7-1/8). I may have to actually bring an aero-bed to Pachita and camp out there for that weekend. Both shows are sure to please, and both actually complement eachother quite well. Afrojack offers the quintessential Dirty Dutch sound, which is lots of sqeaky, hi-pitched synths and melting bass splattered with more typical housy melodies in between, whereas Laidback Luke focuses more on slightly more mellow electro-house synths and more largely (than Afrojack) on typical housy melodies. Both have had ridiculously successful 2010's and Luke's new single with John Mendelson called Time Bomb was actually officially released today with a slew of remixes. Sample it here - sure to be a banger, and will probably bring more popularity to Till Tonight, which I think came out honestly a little bit before its time. In either event, both DJs are awesome in their respective ways and are sure to bring unique energies to the newly renovated Pacha NYC.

And now for the Ultra News. Phase I of the first time ever and extremely controversial Ultra Music Festival was released today on Ultra's Facebook page and I've copied it below for your convenience.
