David Guetta makes the Wall Street Journal at the *NEW* Pacha NYC

First let me comment on how awesome of a job Pacha did in terms of crowd control. The line was 3/4 of the way to the West Side Highway and we got in in under 15 minutes. We had some issues with certain members of our group having prepaid tickets, others being on guest lists and others needing to buy tickets at the door and every single member of our group was together in the club in under 20 minutes. Coat check moved very quickly, as did bar and bathroom lines. This is the *FIRST* time I've been to Pacha and not experienced any headaches with any of these, so a HUGE props to the club for preparing properly for this event - you created a lot of happy costumers.

Secondly, let me address the physical aspects of the club which were noticeably renovated for the 5th year anniversary. The DJ booth was equipped with LED Pacha cherries, the truss system which hold the center part of the light show was completely mobile which created new effects, renovations and more importantly additions to the light were added to the furthest ends of the main room - giving an almost "entire-incorporation" effect to the main room as opposed to just the dance floor, and a brand new light wooden physical dance floor had been installed. Possibly the most impressive renovations, however, were the three LED boards above and to the left and right of the DJ booth. It gives the DJ booth this unique mini-festival feel that I have not seen mimicked in any other club. VERY impressed.

Other cool aspects of the performance which I am not sure were part of Pacha's plan or Guetta's plan were the LED foam sticks thrown out to the ENTIRE crowd. They were a lot of fun and gave a really cool effect, plus they had so many so people weren't fighting over them. Additionally, the same LED robot which was on the main stage at UMF 2010 was IN PACHA! That's right, the 15 foot tall LED robot whose fingers shoot out smoke and lasers descended from the mezzanine onto the main dance floor in the middle of the show. Again, Pacha's staff did a great job of moving the crowd out of the way and protecting the robot and then re-hooking it to the chain from which it descended. To see the robot and its effects, click here for a video (it's about 2 minutes in).

Guetta himself was of course, amazing. Given this was the 6th time I've seen the French Ambassador, in my opinion it wasn't the best show I've seen from him. However, one thing you can certainly count on was that the show was completely and utterly different than any of the others he's put on. He stayed away from a lot of his signature tracks (meaning his own as well as tracks by others which he often plays) and dropped a LOT of brand new and unrealised material. Overall the show was really really good, he stuck to a lot of new dirty dutch and dropped an insane dubstep remix to "like a g6". We left at about 5, about an hour before he was finished, exhausted, bruised, soar, and happy.

Additionally David Guetta might be (not sure, but pretty sure) the FIRST DJ EVER to make the Wall Street Journal! This, for obvious reasons, is ENORMOUS for the electronic dance music community because it shows that an extremely respected, conservative piece of literature now regards this type of music and this phenomena as a whole as LEGITIMATE in our country! I don't know what could be a clearer signs that we are living the revolution. Awesome, I'm speechless. View the article here.

I have not been to Pacha since, so I didn't make it to Kaskade, Luciano or Fedde.
