GUETTA RETURNS!!!!

Househeads,

Finally after 10 long months Mr. FMIF returns to NYC to a sold-out 21+ PACHA. Also on the bill is Mr. John Dahlback, an interesting but excellent choice for an opener. Last time Guetta was in NYC he brought along the Black Eyed Peas, Estelle, and Swizz Beatz, all unannounced. One can only wonder to see who he'll surprise us with this time. Nobody works Pacha's signature truck horns and smoke screen quite like the World's #2 DJ, and with the re-release of his most recent album "One Love" as "One MORE Love" this week, you can bet this show will be one to remember. Of the top 5 shows I've ever been to (not including festivals), 2 of them belong to Guetta. This will be my 6th time seeing him, so expect a highly critical and detailed review of his show next week.

Coming up:
Kaskade
Fedde le Grande
Luciano
Max Vangeli
STEVE ANGELLO!

  1. Let me preface this with the fact that I am not very fond of Pacha NYC, in fact I more or less detest Pacha NYC. I've gone to a handful of events at Pacha and while I ultimately have had a lot of fun, to go to a show at Pacha is a pretty big commitment in that you need put up with being boxed in close to about 4,000 people I believe, all incredibly drunk and pushing and falling on you. If NJ and its little cousin Staten Island were to stand up and defecate on Manhattan, that spot would be called Pacha NYC. Why would one subject them self to such an ordeal? Pacha is a really big chain that can bring in heavy hitters in the electro-house to NYC and as a result if you ever wanted to see David Guetta outside of a festival like Electric Zoo you are going to have to go to Pacha.

Celebrating its 5th anniversary Pacha NYC has made many improvements to its interior, such as an entirely new floor on the main level, an entirely new L.E.D. light show, distributed really cool light up foam glow sticks, and how it handled crowd control (this held true up until I tried to go to Kaskade the following evening- clearly they are still working out the kinks).

Guetta came on just shortly after 1:00 AM and he did not disappoint in what was his first appearance back in NYC since February 24th. He started off a little slow but eventually picked up with classics such as "The World is Yours", "Commander" "The Love is Gone", he mixed it up with "One", a dub-step remix of "Like a G6", and I vaguely recall "Smells Like Teen Spirit" being mashed up at one point but I was just about 8-9 jack and cokes deep when that happened so my memory got a little hazy at that point. He played some unreleased Dirty Dutch songs and presented us with the NYC debut of "Who's That Chick" featuring Rihanna. Then out of nowhere it seemed a 7 foot tall man in a robot costume on stilts appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the crowd, said robot was equipped with gloves that released fog as well as lasers- maybe the coolest thing I have ever seen at an electronic music event, in fact most of the videos of the event on you tube are of that robot suit. By 3:30-4:00 Guetta seemed to be playing a lot of filler music and came dangerously close to underwhelming us. We left by a little after four and I was told Guetta stayed on till 6 AM which is pretty respectable if I say so myself. I would say all in all that was the most fun I have ever had at Pacha NYC and the show itself is the probably my second favorite show of all time.

  2. P.s. Apparently Akon was there. Not that it really mattered.
